Concrete Pool Surrounds

South East Queensland has one of the highest rates of backyard pools in the country, and the concrete around the pool decides how the whole space looks, how safe it is underfoot and how well it handles water year after year. SAFETY FIRST

A pool surround must be slip resistant when wet. We recommend exposed aggregate, honed finishes with adequate texture or broom finished concrete depending on the look you want, and we avoid finishes and sealers that become slick around water. Sealers are selected for resistance to salt and pool chemicals so the surface holds up to Queensland pool conditions.

WATER GOES WHERE WE SEND IT

The technical heart of a pool surround is drainage: falls set away from the pool and the house, drainage provision where paving meets lawns or walls, and clean junctions with the pool coping. Poorly drained surrounds pond water, stain and undermine themselves over time. We set falls deliberately and detail the perimeter so the slab performs in a storm, not just in a photo.
